Exodus Movie “Edited” For North African Release

exodus-gods-kings-castRidley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings movie (the one where Batman and Uncle Owen fight over the freedom of the Israelites) was prohibited from release in several North African countries. Not because of the quality of the film (I can only dream of a day when movies are not allowed to be released because they are terrible). But for several reasons, including historical inaccuracies and depicting God in human form.

Now it looks like movie fans in North Africa might have the chance to be disappointed by this film, just like I was.

Coming Soon: Left Behind

1798513_594595973940397_2139368986_nWhen I became a Christian in the late 90s, the Left Behind books were one of the biggest things happening in the Christian book market. The main concept behind it – that the rapture happened and all the Christians were taken up to heaven while everyone else was “left behind” on earth to deal with what happened next – was difficult for me to get my head around as a young Christian. The theology of the rapture was not something I’d encountered before and it wasn’t taught at my church. I never got far into the books and never saw the original Kirk Cameron movies (I’d hired the first one out once, but never got around to actually watching it). But later this year a new Left Behind movie will hit cinemas, this time starring Nicolas Cage. I’m going to assume that this is going to be a thing that Christians will want to pay attention to. There’s going to be media attention and people are going to be talking about the rapture.

Heck: The Movie

Last year I read the book Heck: Where The Bad Kids Go. I didn’t like it. Looks like someone saw some promise in the idea though because Heck is heading to the big screen.

Reading the book, I was imagining a Tim Burton/Robert Rodriguez style production. From the article, it looks like they’re at least jumping onto the Tim Burton style with the reference to Beetlejuice.

Will this be a good movie? I’m really struggling to see how this will come together. The book was a bit of a mess and I can’t see the movie pulling it all together. Only time will tell.

I can only hope that anally violating a marshmallow bear with dynamite is left out of the script.
