- Dear John
- Alice in Wonderland
- Ninja Assassin
- The Men Who Stare at Goats
Two men wake up alone on a space ship. They don’t remember how they got there or what they’re meant to do. Of course they’re not really alone. And of course things aren’t what they seem. It’s an age old concept for a sci-fi thriller, so it will all depend on the execution for me.
Dear John (M)
A romantic drama involving a long distance relationship between a soldier and a college student. I’m sure there will be enough explody things to keep guys mildly interested, but I’m doubting this will be my kind of movie.
Alice in Wonderland (PG)
A live action sequel to Disney’s Alice in Wonderland cartoon. The film looks visually impressive, but in a very, very Tim Burton kind of way. If you enjoy Tim Burton films, chances are you’ll enjoy this one. I’m usually more miss than hit with Burton. It just doesn’t spark with me.
Ninja Assassin (R)
There’s nothing original here in the plot. Your standard action movie revenge story. So it will live or die by the action sequences. And judging by the R rating, there will be blood. Lots of it.
The Men Who Stare At Goats (M)
This is actually the movie I’m most looking forward to this week. Men Who Stare At Goats explores a secret government military program to use human psychics as weapons. No, this is not a sci-fi movie. It’s grounded in fact. Which makes it all the more fascinating. And George Clooney rarely disappoints.
